Ranked as one of the Global Top 10 most influential Leadership Gurus, Arthur’s gamification methodology was unique, fun, and engaging – directed towards corporate culture transformation. Here are the key takeaways from our conversation with Arthur Carmazzi:
What is Work Gamification?
According to Arthur Carmazzi, the definition of work gamification is: “The systematic creation of positive motivation structures that trigger and maintain excitement and interest in applying personal talents and innovation for the achievement of organizational goals…and for people to enjoy it.”
In simpler terms, Gamification measures the validation of a “sense of value.” A coach facilitates the emotions of the client to take action.
How is Gamification connected to personal development?
Gamified processes and engagement are traditionally focused on recognition… but the root cause of motivation is not “being recognized” but feeling a sense of personal value.
As Arthur says, the work culture or, for that matter, the coaching environment should be motivational and fun to foster desired behaviors and results.
The Gamification Value Perception Index (GVPI)
Anticipation – Anticipate what you actually get and not anticipate not getting it. In coaching, creating that sense of “what happens when you actually make something” impacts.
- Fun is a product of the emotional drive for diversity. The enemy of fun is the enemy of engagement.
- When coaching, it’s essential to understand and measure your client’s fear tolerance.
- Creating more trust helps you to deal with the low fear tolerance. Trust = safety.
- The environment they are in effect what they’re doing, will do, and will not do.
- My clarity is not your clarity and creates a barrier to trust.
- Help your client find an ecosystem and coach per that.
- When you get the clarity that makes taking actions easier, results get clearer.
- Measuring your client has effects on creating tangibility.
“Reverse engineer the goal into behavior, then gamify behavior into emotions.”
